Last Wednesday, three-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings lost a match to Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL season. Soon after, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was on the receiving end of social media trolling.
However, the level of trolling stooped to a disgusting level when certain users threatened to rape MS Dhoni’s six-year-old daughter Ziva just because of the poor performance of the CSK skipper in the ongoing IPL.
The incident sparked massive outrage across the country with several celebrities and political leaders taking to social media to slam the culture of toxic online trolling and demanding action.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Gujarat Police detained a 16-year-old student from Mundra in Gujarat for allegedly issuing threats to Ziva.
Reacting to his arrest, Bollywood actor R. Madhavan hailed the police. He tweeted,
“Teenager Detained For Issuing Threats Against MS Dhoni’s Daughter: Police Great job .. time to clamp down and put the fear of law and god on these faceless monsters who think they can do and say what they want on the internet. Even if they are teens.”
Soon his tweet was flooded with many reactions from Tweeple. His tweet also caught the attention of cricketer R Ashwin, who agreed with Madhavan and claimed that it’s time to teach these ‘arm chair’ monsters a lesson. He wrote,
“Time to set these arm chair monsters straight.”
