The one TV show that kept everyone glued to TV was Kaun Banega Crorepati. Inspired by a UK based show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, KBC gives people chance to try their luck by giving right answers to win money. Hosted by none other than Shehanshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan, the show is quite popular in India and earned a good TRP as well.
Let’s have a look at some winners of KBC and what they did with the winning amount.
1- Harshvardhan Nawathe (Season 1)
He got a call for KBC, when he was preparing for Indian Civil Services. After winning ₹1 crore on the show, he went to the UK to pursue MBA. Currently, he works with Mahindra & Mahindra.
2- Ravi Saini (Winner of KBC Junior)
Ravi Saini was only 14 years old when he participated in KBC Junior, and answered every question correctly, winning ₹ 1 crore. He was a class 10 student at that time when he participated in the show. He is all grown up now and serves the country in the capacity of an officer in the Indian Police Service. Well done, Ravi!
3- Rahat Taslim (Season 4)
Coming from a rather conservative family, Rahat Taslim had to leave her studies as she was married off. When she was selected for the audition of KBC, she was more excited about going back to studies, than the prize money. She won ₹ 1 crore and opened a garment showroom in a mall in Giridih. It wasn’t just the money that she won, but also her independence and self-confidence.
4- Sushil Kumar (Season 5)
Sushil Kumar went on to win ₹ 5 crore on the hot seat, becoming the first contestant in the show’s history to win such a huge sum. But apparently he didn’t invest it wisely. According to the reports, he spent it in building a house, buying farmland in his village, and establishing his kin and family. He is reportedly jobless and strugglingfor money.
5- Sunmeet Kaur (Season 6)
Despite a degree in fashion designing, she was not allowed to pursue a career in designing by her in-laws. She won ₹ 5 crore in KBC and started a fashion house with a friend.
6- Taj Mohammed Rangrez (Season 7)
A history teacher by profession, Taj Mohammed won ₹1 crore in season 7. He utilized the money in his daughter’s treatment for partial vision impairment, bought a house and funded the marriage of two orphaned girls.
7- Achin Narula and Sarthak Narula (Season 8)
These Delhi based brothers won a whooping amount of ₹7 crore on the show. The brothers used the money for their mother’s cancer treatment and opened a business of their own.
8- Anamika Majumdar (Season 9)
Anamika who is a social worker and also runs a NGO, won ₹1 crore on the show. She invested the money for the betterment of her NGO.
9- Binita Jain (Season 10)
Binita Jain is a tuition teacher and a single mother and won ₹1 crore on the show. He utilised the money to help her kids and family.
10- Sanoj Raj (Season 11)
Sanoj Raj became the first contestant of season 11 to win ₹1 crore. During the show, he told that someday he wishes to become an IAS officer.
