Actor Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide at his Bandra residence on June 14. It was reported that the 34-year-old actor was going through depression for the last six months. As the exact reason for his death is still unknown, people are blaming Bollywood bigwigs and indicating nepotism as the main cause of his death.
Sushant’s death has reignited the debate on nepotism in the entertainment industry. Many reports suggested that Sushant was banned by some big production houses including producers such as Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, Salman Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Some old videos of star kids mocking the actor are also doing rounds on social media. Netizens are furious and demanding a ban on the movies of some big Bollywood banners to teach them a lesson. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police is still investigating the matter.
Amid all this, there was a report stating that Mahesh Bhatt had reportedly asked Sushant’s rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty to vacate the flat and leave the actor immediately after she told him about him hearing voices and behaving strangely.
Though these claims have not been officially proven yet, social media seems to have believed the rumours and created a narrative which antagonizes Mahesh Bhatt.
After Sushant’s father denied any knowledge of his son’s relationship with Rhea Chakroborty, the latter’s mother, Suhrita Das spoke out about her daughter’s struggle with Sushant Singh Rajput.
She posted a statement on social media stating that how Rhea fought hard to keep up with Sushant’s instability. She also confirmed that Rhea used to consult Mahesh Bhatt every time she was upset about Sushant getting frustrated and that he had asked Rhea to quit the relationship. Suhrita also claimed that Bhatt drew similarities between Parveen Babi’s mental health condition and that of Sushant Singh Rajput’s.
Suhrita’s statement drew backlash from fans and they accused her of being a paid member of the Bhatt-camp attempting to dub Sushant as mentally unwell.
Meanwhile, Rhea in her statement given to the police had accepted that she and Sushant were planning to get married. She also told that Sushant was diagnosed with depression. She confirmed that his mentor, Mahesh Bhatt, had also advised her to leave Sushant because of his mental condition.
This very statement resulted in an uproar among fans and they questioned her and the veteran director’s relationship.
