During the Monsoon Session in Parliament, Jaya Bachchan spoke about an alleged ‘conspiracy to defame the film industry’. She slammed those who have been defaming the entire film industry, amid the ongoing drug row.
She demanded the government to provide protection and put a ban on the unending bashing being faced by members of the film industry. Without taking names, she said that she completely disagrees with those who called the entertainment industry a “gutter”.
She also used the Hindi proverb, “Jis thali mein khate hai usme chhed karte hai,” which broadly translated, is similar to “biting the hand that feeds you”.
Soon after Jaya Bachchan’s statement, a video of ‘highly drunk’ Shweta Bachchan has been going viral on social media. She can be seen exiting a restaurant accompanied by her sister-in-law Natasha Nanda and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar.

Since Jaya’s statement created a storm on social media, the security outside Bachchan’s bungalows has been increased.
“Amitabh Bachchan already has X category security cover. After the speech (in Parliament by Jaya Bachchan), we stepped up peripheral security and increased patrolling outside their bungalows in Juhu,” the official said.
The official said the security has been stepped up as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident in view of Jaya Bachchan’s speech.
Through a Zero Hour mention in Rajya Sabha, Jaya also said, “At a time when the financial situation is in a depressing state and employment rate at the worst levels, in order to divert the attention of people, we are being flogged by social media and there is no support from the government.”
