Rhea Chakraborty, who has been accused by Sushant Singh Rajput’s family of abetting his suicide has been under media scrutiny. While many celebs and a few publications are focused on Rhea’s alleged involvement, there are a few who are standing up for her.
Actress Shibani Dandekar has come out in support of Rhea and slammed the media’s portrayal of her in the case. On Wednesday, Shibani penned a note in the support of Rhea, whom she has known for a long time. The hashtag she used, #JusticeForRhea, is one that is slowly but gradually gaining momentum.
She said that she knew Rhea for more than a decade and that she and her family were going through ‘unimaginable trauma’. She then spoke against the media trial of Rhea.
“We have watched the media behave like complete vultures on a witch-hunt, vilifying and torturing an innocent family until breaking point, ” she wrote.
“Her basic human rights have been taken away as the media plays judge jury and executioner! We have seen the death of journalism and a frightening side of humanity, ” she added.
Many celebs agreed with Shibani and she received a lot of encouragement for her post.
Vishal Dadlani left a comment which reads, “You’re a rock, @shibanidandekar. I’m proud of you, and lucky to count you among my very few friends. While I don’t really know Rhea, it’s heartbreaking to watch her be victimised by evidence-free conjectures in the media just so they can distract India from the real issues of Covid, China, the total failure of this government and the collapse of our Economy. Good on you for standing strong.”
Other celebs like Amrita Arora, Rasika Dugal, and Maanvi Gagroo also appreciated Shibani.
Many from the film fraternity, including Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Minissha Lamba, and Lakshmi Manchu, have condemned the ‘media trial’ of Rhea. They have urged the media to let the law take its course and not prematurely declare her guilty.
