Sushant Singh Rajput’s sudden demise has left everyone in a state of shock. Moreover, some actors and directors took his as an opportunity to talk about things like nepotism, bullying, power politics amongst others that take place in Bollywood.
Stars like Kangana Ranaut, Abhinav Kashyap, Sonu Nigam recently expressed their views regarding the same. Now actor Abhay Deol has expressed his personal grief over the dirty politics in the Bollywood industry.
He shared his own experience in the Bollywood industry, considering the fact that he has also been a victim of nepotism. He expressed grief over the fact that in the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, all the 3 main leads i.e. Abhay, Hrithik and Farhan had equal roles but only Hritik and Katrina were nominated in the category of leading actors during an award show.
He wrote: “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, released in 2011. Need to chant this title to myself everyday nowadays! Also a great watch when anxious or stressed. I would like to mention that almost all the award functions demoted me and Farhan from main leads, and nominated us as “supporting actors”. Hrithik and Katrina were nominated as “actors in a leading role”. So by the industry’s own logic, this was a film about a man and a woman falling in love, with the man supported by his friends for whatever decisions he takes. There are many covert and overt ways in which people in the industry lobby against you. In this case, it was shamelessly overt. I of course boycotted the awards but Farhan was ok with it. #familyfareawards Very creative artwork @kalakkii”
This is how people reacted to Abhay’s shocking Post …
Not only this, Abhay recently also called out Bollywood celebrities for not voicing problems in their own country, and coming out to support the enraged Black Lives Matter movement in the US.
On the workfront, Abhay was last seen in Netflix Originals ‘Chopsticks’.
