Commonwealth Games gold medallist wrestler turned politician Babita Phogat stoked a row after putting out a controversial tweet against the Tablighi Jamaat. She has been heavily criticised for allegedly communalising the Nizamuddin incident, amid spike in the coronavirus cases in the country. Though her Twitter account was suspended, she defended her views after the uproar over her tweets.
She faced wrath by celebs too including Swara Bhaskar. Tennis star Jwala Gutta urged Babita to take back her controversial views. Now Vijender Singh also called out Babita for her remarks.
“Nadaan hai bachchi, seekh jaayegi. She is new to politics. The country is run by love, not by hatred and discrimination, and it’s important to gain the right knowledge and understanding of what’s right and wrong,” Singh told the Hindustan Times talking of Phogat.
Talking about the communal disharmony, he said, “Hindu vs Muslim is as dangerous as Coronavirus and it can only be curbed by the government and politicians if they want. But some people don’t want this. And to top it all, TV news channels create an uproar with the debates.”
While Babita Phogat faced the wrath of many netizens for her tweets, she found a supporter in Kangana Ranaut.
