The conflict between India and Pakistan is extremely complicated. The latter plays a pivotal role in provoking India in every possible way and India plays it out with unparalleled grandeur to reply Pakistan with a counterblast of equal measures.
Last year in August, actress Priyanka Chopra was answering her fans during a Q&A session at Beautycon Festival, Los Angeles 2019.
PC was on stage taking questions from the audience when one young woman stepped up to the mic and confronted the Quantico star about her political views and accused her of being a hypocrite after a February 2019 tweet about the India–Pakistan conflict.
“So, it was kinda hard hearing you talk about humanity, because as your neighbor – a Pakistani – I know you’re a bit of a hypocrite,” the woman who identified herself on social media as Ayesha Malik said.
“You are United Nations Goodwill ambassador for peace and you are encouraging nuclear war in Pakistan. There is no way you are in this …As a Pakistani, millions of people, like me, have supported you in your business,” she further added.
Chopra then responded that she would answer her ‘whenever she’s done ranting.’
The star then said, “I have many, many friends from Pakistan and I am from India. War is not something I’m really fond of but I am patriotic, so I’m sorry if I hurt sentiments to people who do love me and have loved me.”
She continued, “But I think that all of us have a sort of, a middle ground that we all have to walk. Just like you probably do as well. The way that you came at me right now, girl, don’t yell. We’re all here for love.”
The tweet in question was the one when PC voiced for the Indian armed forces after they struck back in response to the Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel. At the time, she tweeted, “Jai Hind”, and used the hashtag #IndianArmed Forces.
Priyanka’s tweet generated backlash from critics who said she was ‘glorifying war.’
