Entertaining action sequences and character development are great things to have in a well-made superhero movie, but one especially important aspect of translating this type of property to the big screen is the costume.
Superhero costumes have been used by heroes over decades to conceal secret identities, to instill fear or hope into those around them, to protect themselves from harm’s way, or even just to look badass. Unfortunately, heroes can sometimes miss the mark and end up looking completely ridiculous. Whether it be the suits’ wacky design, functionality, or complete lack of thought, all of these suits remain as some of the worst superhero costumes.
Just take a good, hard look at the costumes of some of the “superhero” films we have made over the years, and you’ll get why we struggle with superhero films.
No doubt, Vikram is a superb actor. However, his costume in Kanthaswamy was a disaster. It looked like it was picked up from a South American carnival. And seriously, what’s with all those feathers?
For the first time ever, the villain in a superhero film had a better costume than the hero. SRK’s costume looked like a badly made mix of Iron Man’s suit and Aquaman’s suit. No matter how much you try, you simply cannot defend SRK’s costume in the movie.
3- Bhavesh Joshi Superhero
The movie had a badly and cheaply made superhero. The costume was so bad with a badly made mask with LED lights for eyes, and track jacket and cargo pants.
4- A Flying Jatt
We have the mandatory ‘funny’ costume selection montage, a staple of every superhero origin movie that isn’t dark and brooding. It looked like the costume was made from a blue tarpaulin sheet. And don’t go by the posters, for the costume looks better in them.
5- Super Singh
What is with that mask that he’s wearing? It looks like it was made from the scraps that were left over after making Krrish’s mask.
Yes! Believe it or not, we have made our very own Desi Superman film with Puneet Issar essaying the role of our favorite superhero. It adapts the story created by DC comics and gives it an Indian twist. Apart from the plot, story, and dialogues, we also copied the costume that was made for the film.
Amitabh’s costume in the movie was a big disaster. It looked like a mix between Hawkeye, Hatim, & He-Man.
We definitely had no clue about what was going on in this film. The costume wore by Abhishek was downright hilarious. Also, Priyanka Chopra wears a green dupatta on her head throughout the movie.
