Contrary to popular opinion, Boomers are pretty easy to deal with it. We do it on a daily basis. We tell them to not forward their WhatsApp messages. But when said Boomers are huge celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan and they’ve access to the internet, then what the hell are you going to do?
Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, an active Twitter user, has been lately courting controversy for tweeting fake WhatsApp forwards. From claiming that rising the decibels of noise would destroy coronavirus to tweeting that the coronavirus is caused by flies, Big B’s tweets have created quite a stir on social media. He has been called out several times for sharing misinformation on social media.
Now people largely think he is like that perfect ‘uncleji’ who has graduated from WhatsApp University. Here’s 5 times when Big B goofed up.
1- Recently, when Big B shared a post on his Twitter account, which happens to be a WhatsApp forward, people started trending #uninstallwhatsapp and asked him to delete his WhatsApp account.
2- Earlier, he posted a tweet which was a scientific misinformation about the effects of the new moon on bacteria and viruses. However, he deleted the tweet later.
3- A few days ago, he shared a tweet which says that he feels that homeopathic medicine may come up with ways to counter the coronavirus.
4- The 77-year-old was criticised for retweeting a post on Twitter that falsely showed an illuminated India on the world map.
5- He was brutally trolled once again when he copy pasted a WhatsApp forwarded joke on his Twitter account.
One user even wrote, “Let him keep his WhatsApp and delete Twitter instead,” and we couldn’t agree more.
For celebrities, it becomes more important to validate the authenticity of anything they share with their fans in view of the fact that they are followed by a many people and whatever they post on social media affects a number of people in a very short time.
