Salman Khan has been a part of the Hindi film industry for more than three decades. He is one of the most successful actors in Bollywood who enjoys a very loyal fan base. His fans watch his movies just to look at him ignoring the story/content of the movie. A lot of his films have been called ‘average’ by the critics and still are part of the 100 crore club.
Here are 5 Salman Khan movies that had below-average storylines but were box office blockbusters.
Bharat borrowed its script from Korean hit titled Ode To My Father. The film narrates the story of a protagonist, aptly named Bharat, over 80 years from the Partition era to present day India. The movie managed to earn ₹325 crores at the box-office.
While Salman lived up to the simplicity of the character, the movie lacked intriguing dialogues and followed a similar storyline of that of Bajrangi Bhaijaan making it merely a sequel! The movie was said to be a copy of Hollywood’s Little Boy. While the film and cast didn’t excite the audience, it managed to earn ₹211 crores worldwide.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
Probably one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, as the name suggests is full of family values and drama. The film received a severe beating from the critics but still managed to rake in ₹400 crores at the box-office.
You will hate me for this. But the fact is that Dabangg 3 was made just to carry forward the franchise. Dabanng was good and made at a time when desi films were in vogue. Dabangg 3 is plain crap and lacks originality. The film received negative reviews yet earned ₹230 crores at the box-office.
Race 3 did commercially very well but content wise it was a disaster. The multi-starrer film was only successful at killing the hit Race franchise but still managed to earn ₹276 crores at the box-office.
