The year 2020 stands before us like a scourge. On one hand, the whole world is fighting a war against the deadly COVID-19 and on the other hand, Bollywood stars are constantly leaving the world one after another.
The news of musician Wajid Khan’s demise on Monday was once again a shock for everyone. In the last 37 days, 11 big personalities from the Hindi film industry have bid adieu to the world.
Here’s a list of those celebs who’ve left the world in recent times:
Actor Irfan Khan, who proved his acting mettle from Bollywood to Hollywood, breathed his last on April 29. He was admitted to Kokilaben hospital a day before his demise, owing to a colon infection. He was suffering from neuroendocrine tumor since 2018.
People were not fully recovered from Irrfan Khan’s death that the next day, on April 30, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away. He was suffering from Leukemia. He was also treated in the US for about a year, but even after this, he could not win the battle against the disease. The demise of two great actors in less than 24 hours was nothing less than a big shock.
The veteran artist of Bollywood left the world on June 3 due to cardiac arrest. He was well known for lyrics of song ‘Wada Raha Sanam’ Akshay Kumar-starrer “Khiladi”. He was battling with prolonged heart disease.
Lyricist Yogesh Gaur, who gave some memorable songs to Bollywood, said goodbye to this world on May 29. Yogesh was counted among those songwriters who had done a lot of work with the best filmmakers of his time. Bollywood was shocked by his demise.
Famous actor and comedian Mohit Baghel breathed his last on May 23 at the age of 27. He had been battling cancer for a long time. Mohit had worked with many big stars like Salman Khan, Parineeti Chopra etc.
TV actor Manmeet Grewal, who lived in Kharghar area of Navi Mumbai, committed suicide on May 16. The 32-year-old actor lived in a rented flat with his wife. He was struggling with financial crisis as the shootings for all TV serials were closed due to the lockdown.
Abhijeet, who was a team member of Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, passed away on May 15. Abhijeet was associated with the company since starting. The news of his death was tweeted by Red Chillies Entertainment on their Twitter account. Shah Rukh too expressed grief on his death and tweeted, “We all started the journey of making films with Dreamz Unlimited. Abhijeet was my most resilient & solid ally. V did some good, some wrong but always believed v will sail through because strong team members like him were there to look after the rest of us. Will miss u my friend.”
Bollywood’s veteran producer dies due to Covid-19 aged 77 in Mumbai. After the major hospitals refused to allow him bed for corona treatment, he failed to survive anymore and breathed last on June 3.
‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki’ actor Sachin Kumar died of a heart attack on May 15. He lived in Andheri, Mumbai. Later, Sachin left acting and made a career in photography.
Actor Aamir Khan’s assistant Amos breathed his last on May 12 due to a heart attack. He was 60 years old and had been working for Aamir for nearly 25 years. There were many people from the industry who were close to Amos.
Actor Sai Gundewar, who worked in movies like ‘PK’ and ‘Rock On’, died in the US on May 10. Sai had been fighting brain cancer for the past year. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and other Bollywood actors paid tribute to the actor.
Famous TV actor Shafiq Ansari breathed his last on May 10 in Mumbai. The 52-year-old actor was suffering from cancer. Shafiq performed various roles in ‘Crime Patrol’.
